Marcin Wyrostek, a phenomenal Polish accordionist, will be the guest star at the Silver Gala Concert of the Paderewski Symphony Orchestra.

We are pleased to invite you to the Silver Gala Concert of the Paderewski Symphony Orchestra. This one-of-a-kind event will be presented to all fans of great music – ages 6 to 100 to celebrate both the 25th anniversary of the PaSO and the 25th anniversary of the amazing career of Marcin Wyrostek. The concert will take place on October 16th at 4 pm, at the Copernicus Center, at 5216 W. Lawrence Ave in Chicago, and will feature an extraordinary guest soloist – Polish accordion virtuoso Marcin Wyrostek.

The music director of the PaSO, Wojciech Niewrzol – Victor, intentionally chose Mr. Wyrostek for this celebration. During the 25 years of Mr. Niewrzol’s work at PaSO, his passion for different genres and styles of music has become well known. Each of over 300 concerts presented by the orchestra was different, surprising, sometimes moving, other times entertaining, and always highly appreciated for its high level of artistry and unique content – and this upcoming concert will be no exception.

The audience will be enchanted with Marcin Wyrostek’s music from the very first note. A consummate musician, he became famous for his performances of Balkan, Argentine, and Latin American repertoire. He also plays music by Vivaldi, Bach, and Piazzola, with unequaled mastery, great style, brilliant virtuosity, and breathtaking expressivity During the concert, we will enjoy pieces from various stages of the artist's musical path, from classic accordion repertoire by I. Albéniz, A. Piazzolla, A. Biełoszycki, or W. Kilar to his most popular pieces from his original albums: Magia del TangoMarcin Wyrostek & ColoriageFor Alice and Polacc. There will also be musical surprises and the premiere of the artist's new musical project.

MARCIN WYROSTEK
is an outstanding Polish accordionist, winner of Poland’s Got Talent, and winner of over 30 International Accordion Competitions (both in Poland and abroad), including Esztergom (Hungary), Dunajska Streda (Slovakia), Reinach (Switzerland) and Detroit (USA).
Mr. Wyrostek started playing accordion at an early age. He studied at the Academy of Music in Katowice, where he now is a member of the faculty.
He has released seven CDs, all of which achieved Platinum and Silver Awards. He gained national recognition in 2009 with his album, Magia del Tango - a collection of Astor Piazzola and Richard Galliano compositions interpreted through Wyrostek's fiery playing and jazz-tinged arrangements. The album quickly gained triple platinum status. Since then, he has recorded two more best-selling albums, building on the tango and Latin inspiration, and connecting it with Balkan influences brought to the table by members of his highly accomplished band, Corazon.

 

 

The 2015 album, For Alice, expanded the concept to include a symphony orchestra. His latest release, Polacc, adds Polish folk roots to the mix. Improvisation is a key element of this exceptional musical personality. He is the founder and leader of many successful projects: Corazon, Coloriage, Music, and Dance Show, and more. Mr. Wyrostek has performed all over the world and collaborates with many outstanding artists: conductors (Jose Maria Florencio, Jerzy Maksymiuk, Adam Sztaba), instrumentalists, and singers (Kayah, Dorota Miśkiewicz, Bobby McFerrin, Nippy Noya, Maryla Rodowicz, Stanisław Soyka) with many Polish philharmonic and chamber orchestras including AUKSO – Chamber Orchestra, Sinfonietta Cracovia, Sinfonia Varsovia.

He has made several recordings for foreign media: ZDF, FOX2, Radio Zurich, and many media outlets in Poland – Polsat, TVN, TVP, TVP Polonia, TVS, and regional broadcasters of Polish Radio and TV.
